General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) reuses and extends existing GSM
infrastructure to provide end-to-end packet switched services. In this talk
we will try to understand how this is done. We will describe the
GPRS architecture and air interface, study the functionality of new GPRS
nodes, and see how GPRS supports high-bandwidth data services. Lastly we
will also look at how GPRS provides a smooth path for GSM evolution to 3G by
reuse of the GPRS backbone network.
