Session 1

Introduction to GSM Prof. Karandikar (IITB) 0930-1015hrs

Wireless Enabling Sachin Nayak (3Genesis) 1015-1100hrs
Wireless applications allow enterprises opportunities to speed up business processes by reducing disconnect between participants in business processes. Wireless enabling enterprise applications also allows enterprises to sell their services through a new channel to each customer in a customized manner. Wireless enables extreme customer relationship management. This talk will use the 3Genesis experience to explain the process and benefits of wireless enabling enterprise systems.

TEA BREAK 1100-1115hrs

Session 2

Evolution to GPRS Dr. Leena (IITB) 1115-1200hrs
General Packet Radio Service (GPRS) reuses and extends existing GSM infrastructure to provide end-to-end packet switched services. In this talk we will try to understand how this is done. We will describe the GPRS architecture and air interface, study the functionality of new GPRS nodes, and see how GPRS supports high-bandwidth data services. Lastly we will also look at how GPRS provides a smooth path for GSM evolution to 3G by reuse of the GPRS backbone network.

Emerging Structure of Telecom Industry Pratap Tambay (3Genesis) 1200-1245hrs
The telecommunication industry is undergoing a massive technology change. The number of technology alternatives as the world evolves towards third generation telecommunications technologies will be reviewed. The various variants of 3G technologies will be compared and contrasted.

LUNCH BREAK 1245-1400hrs

Session 3

Parlay APIs Nishant Prabhu (3Genesis) 1400-1445hrs
Each network has different ways of implementing a common set of capabilities. These capabilities includes messaging, location-identification-of-nodes, connectivity, Call control, Voice-interaction, etc. The Parlay set of API's is a network independent set of API's laid down by www.parlay.org a non-profit organization to enable programmers to develop applications once and expect them to work on multiple networks, wherever a Parlay gateway is available.

3G Applications Rangaraj Srinivasan (3Genesis) 1445-1530hrs
There is an urgent need for new applications, which leverage capabilities of next-generation networks through open APIs. Applications including streaming and m-commerce will be discussed in this talk. This talk will also discuss 3G billing systems and try to give a flavor for the complexity of billing systems in new generation networks.

TEA BREAK 1530-1545hrs

Session 4

Business Strategy Changes Sameer Pendse (3Genesis) 1545-1630hrs
