Convergence 2006 is a two day research exposure workshop on "New frontiers in Database Research". The workshop features talks on various advancements in database research, such as databases in sensor networks, parallel
databases, probabilistic databases, XML databases, object oriented databases,
distributed databases, spatial, temporal, & real-time databases, query
optimization, data storage, keyword searching, data
privacy & security, and metadata management. |
We at KReSIT, IIT Bombay have an active group doing research in the field of Databases. And through this workshop, we attempt to explain the technology, give details of the specialized domains and discuss the future of database research. The lectures will be delivered by researchers from top-notch academic institutes, research labs, and leading companies.
Note: The workshop comprises of talks from researchers/professionals and are focussed on research in databases. The participants are expected to have some preliminary background of databases, hence we would recommend revising basic database concepts like transactions, query processing, storage mechanisms etc. for better gain from the lecture series.
Starting this year, the workshop will also feature KReSIT-Industry Academia Interaction Session: A Poster Presentation showcasing on-going research in KReSIT. Masters and doctoral students along with project engineers of KReSIT labs will present their research efforts in Databases, Data Mining, Mobile Computing, Distributed Computing, Forecasting, Embedded Systems and related areas. The workshop also explores how some of these research ideas can be converted to concrete business products.
