Research Experience
. Topology-aware failure diagnosis for distributed enterprise systems.M.Tech. Thesis
July 2005.present
Faults are not uncommon in modern complex enterprise systems and these tend to
propagate throughout the system. It is important to diagnose the observed failure
symptoms to determine the root cause of the failures to initiate proper recovery
actions. The project aims to provide probabilistic root cause analysis for distributed
enterprise systems using the failure dependency graph of the application. Bayesian
Belief Networks(BBNs) are used to encode the application failure model based on the
topology of the application.
. Proactive network anomaly detection.M.Tech. Seminar
July, 2004.November, 2004
The seminar presented a statistical technique for modeling the normal network
behavior and detecting anomalies as abrupt changes in the values of network MIB
variables.
. A lightweight scripting engine for embedded devices.B.E. Project
August, 2003.April, 2004
This was a project for Kenati Technologies, Pune. We developed a scripting engine
that enabled a web server on a networked embedded device to provide dynamic
device information and to control the application remotely.
Other Projects
. Database compression for memory-constrained devices.DBMS Implementation Techniques
Autumn Semester, 2005.
The DELite project at IITB is a database for memory-constrained devices. We built the
support for variable size records and tuple level compression of the database tables
into the DBMS.
. Implementation of scalable decision tree(SPRINT) in Weka.Data Mining
Spring Semester, 2005.
Decision tree implementation in the widely used data mining tool, Weka, does not
scale for large datasets. We provided an implementation of SPRINT, a scalable
decision tree algorithm, for Weka.
. KHOJ - FTP Search Engine.Foundation Lab
Spring Semester, 2005.
A tool for indexing the files stored on FTP servers in IITB.
. A highly generic forecasting engine for statistical analysis.Systems Lab
Autumn Semester, 2006.
Our tool enables a researcher to use multiple forecasting experts and compare their
forecasting accuracies over different segments of the time series. Can interact with
multiple forecasting backend tools like MATLAB, SAS or Java programs.
. Simulation of Randomized DRR.Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems
Autumn Semester, 2006.
A simulation project for modelling and comparing a randomization of the packet
scheduling algorithm, DRR.
