This is a group of people who are inspired to aid financially challenged students.
The first mail written by one of my friends, Dakshina about this group on 30th Aug 2005 which is put up here provides some insight about the group.

Every year we celebrate Ganesh Chathurti --The festival of knowledge...an ode to the lord of wisdom..
This year also lets make it special .. How ? We're not a religious sect here ..Lets celebrate the festival
in its actual spirit ... By passing on the torch of knowledge to those who deserve it ,and who are not as
fortunate as we have been... We have a chance to actually return back something to the society. Lets feel
good that we do make a small difference to the planet we inhabit, apart from merely existing meaninglessly.

Guru has come up with this idea and I support it strongly .Somewhere in each of us is the urge to bring in
some positive change ..Here's a nice chance ... The basic agenda would be to identify few deserving students
in some rural areas and financing their education. This would be possible by periodically contributing some
amount towards this cause , identifing areas where our little help would matter in whatever small way ..
We can always decide on the logistics once we have a consensus. Its been 4 yrs since we have graduated and
we have all been doing well, lets celebrate the occasion ..
We have limited the discussion to a few of you as we've always been in sync and it requires a small but
focussed and dedicated start. My two cents here ..
Please revert if you feel strongly about it ...

Some of the things that we have done:
1. Donations to Rakum School for Blinds, #421, Sri Krishna Temple Road, Indiranagar, Bangalore.
2. Sponsoring five students for their B.E. Degree (two in 2006 batch and three in 2007 batch)
3. Sponsoring two more students for their B.E. Degree with the help of EducationProgram Group.
4. Etc.

Welcome all
At present, the group strength is around 15 who are actively spending their time and contributing money for the cause.
We are looking for the contribution by the people either in the form of effort or money or both:
1. Help in identification of students. This might not require a huge effort in the initial stages,
but as group and fund grows it certainly needs.
2. Regular and consistent contribution of money to the fund. Let the amount be small, but please make
it regular (i.e., monthly or quarterly)
3. Your suggestions to improve the program and process are always welcome.

IF YOU CAN STRETCH OUT A HELPING HAND, PLEASE DO SO.
IF MONEY HELPS A PERSON TO DO GOOD TO OTHERS, IT IS OF SOME VALUE.
