Education:
  • 2004-2006: School of IT, IIT-Bombay
M.Tech. degree in Information Technology; CPI (Including Thesis): 9.6/10

  • 2000-2004: LNCT, R.G.P.V. Bhopal, M.P.
B.E. degree in Information Technology (81.81%)

Interests:
  • Computer Networks, Network Security.

Masters Thesis:
  • Advisor : Prof. Anirudha Sahoo
  • A Contention Window based differentiation mechanism for providing QoS to high priority data in WLANs (802.11, 802.11e): A project to improve current MAC layer of 802.11 to make it more suitable for real-time applications like voice and video. The changes can be extended to 802.11e.

Work Experience:
  • Webaroo India Pvt Ltd. - Software Engineer, Aug. 2006 - till date

    Offline search based startup company.

Masters Courses:
  • Computer Networks, QoS in Networks, New Trends in IT, Network Security, Probability and Statistics, Performance Evaluation of Computer Systems and Networks, Embedded Systems.

Course Projects (Masters):
  • Emulation of Routing Information Protocol using C (course-Computer Networks): This project helps in studying the working and problems of RIP by taking different topologies as inputs.

  • Kernel Module to prevent ARP spoofing and study of DDoS attacks (course-Networks Security)

  • QOS agent module (course-QOS in Networks): A S/W module which characterizes network flow between source and destination and configures the Diffserv enabled route in-between to provide required QoS.

  • Secured Grade System (course-Systems Lab): A framework for the use of Professors for submitting grade sheet in a secured manner by using Smartcards.

  • Implemented 8051 microcontroller on FPGA, using Handel-C (course-Embedded Systems). Wrote the code in Handel-C and burnt it on FPGA.

  • Simulation and comparison of 802.11 and SCW (course-Performance evaluation of computer systems and networks): 802.11 is QoS unaware. SCW, a proposed scheme, makes 802.11 QoS friendly MAC manipulation.

  • Java to XML converter tool. (Flab).

Seminars (Masters):
  • QOS Schemes for Wireless LANs under Professor Anirudha Sahoo (M.Tech Seminar).

  • Router Security (Course Seminar of NTIT)

  • Protection against DDoS attacks and Intrusion by employing QoS protocols (Course seminar of QoS in Networks).

Projects (Undergrad):
  • Robotic Arm (Manipulator kind) with 2 degrees of Freedom: Built a simple robotic arm, controlled by computer (through Printer port). Can work like a simple manipulator and can also perform prespecified motions. The language used was C.

  • Steganography (Information Hiding) in BMP Images: Developed software which hides/retrieves messages (Text Files, Small executables) in/from BMP image files. The language used was C.

Computer Skills:
  • Certification in Networking: CCNA 607-801 (Cisco Certified Network Associate).

  • Languages: C/C++, Worked with some other languages also.

Awards/Merits:
  • Department Topper in Second Semester in M.Tech.

  • 1st Rank (Second semester B.E. IT) in University.

  • 7th Rank (Fourth semester B.E. IT) in University.

Papers:
  • Mayank Mishra, Anirudha Sahoo. "A Contention Window based differentiation mechanism for providing QoS in WLANs" in 9th IEEE International conference on Informational Technology, ICIT2006, Bhubaneswar, India.

Positions Held
  • Placement Representative: Involved in the team responsible for policy formation of the placement activities of Institute (IIT-Bombay).
