CS601 - Algorithms and Complexity Offered by: Sundar VishwanathanMode: Credit (6) Grade: BB Notes: Brilliant course. Sundar goes about his course throwing pearls around unsuspecting swine. I had my ups and downs but just the sheer enjoyment of finding some principles to work with in what I've often felt to be a very slippery path was worth it. I'm no longer scared of Dynamic Programming or the concepts of NP-Hard/Completeness. The one must-take course for CS/IT students for IIT. Criticisms of a slow pace and no special topics this time apart, this was a great experience to cherish. Back to Index CS615 - Formal Specification and Verification of Programs Offered by: Supratik Chakraborty Mode: AuditGrade: Audit Received Notes: Took this course because I wanted to briefly experience the theoretical world of formalisms and verification. The course needed a revision of concepts in Discrete maths, Theory of Computers, Logic etc., which I wasn't in touch with for a long time. Supratik taught with great patience amidst often infuriating circumstances. I lagged behind because of my project work and so never really came to grips with the entire subject. However, I did learn a little about the field and was suitably impressed when the time for experimenting with tools came. Back to Index IT697 - M.Tech. Project - Stage 2 Advisor: Prof. Pushpak BhattacharyyaMode: Credit (30) Grade: AA Documents: Stage 2 Report, Stage 2 Presentation Abstract:In my second stage report, I describe some interesting structural properties of wordnets in English, Hindi, and Marathi. Three of these properties show that wordnets exhibit a `small world' and `scale-free' nature, just like many other complex real-life networks. These observations may be used in the quest for evaluating lexico-semantic networks. The report ends by outlining the further directions for this project in the next stage. Back to Index |
