Projects
Current
Project:
Tata
Teleservices IIT Bombay Center of Excellence in Telecom
(TICET): As a part of this project, we are creating content
for the mobiles especially for the rural masses. We have identified a couple of
areas in which these could be relevant to the users. They are: Science
education, Basic Computer literacy, and other subjects. The mediums we are
planning to explore are the desktop, as well as handheld devices, and mobiles. A
few samples of the same can be seen here.
Con-current Projects:
1. Project
OSCAR: This is a project where final year BE / B Tech,
and MCA students create (JAVA based) animations to explain simple concepts in
Maths/Science. I've contributed in the GUI design of this project. It was a
wonderful experience.
2. Computer Masti: This book (released in June
2008) is meant for teaching computers to children in the First standard. It can
also be used as a starting point for higher classes or for computer-literacy
programs. The hands-on activities in this book are based on freely available
software - Ubuntu.
I was the designer of the book, and Kaumudi made the
illustrations.
Past projects:
1. eOutreach
project: Currently I'm working on this project, along with
some more listed below. This project was established to create and disseminate
educational content in 'Open Source'. The work flow is simple: Capture :: Edit
:: Publish. We are in process of releasing all these stages of the content in
Open Source. This is an effort to allow individuals/organizations to get benefit
of the quality education at IIT Bombay.
2. IIT Bombay's Photo book: A team was setup to
create a photo book commemorate 50 years of establishment. I am fortunate to be
part of this team, and we are in the final stages of the book design. One most
important advantage of being on this committee is a entry to aerial survey of
IITB in a helicopter! We are supposed to do that tin April...and all of us
are too eager for that. After all you don't get a chance to be in a chopper so
easily!
