Dynamic Topology Extraction for Component Based Enterprise Application Environments

The basis of most autonomic systems is the topology of the application environment being managed. Application topology consists of services, resources and dependencies in the middle-tier components. The aim of this project was to automate the extraction of enterprise application topology built using J2EE technologies, without being intrusive to the middleware or the applications. Once this topology is determined, it can be used to build analytical models for performance and availability analysis. This can be used as the basis for auto tuning of the infrastructure in which these components reside. This topology will also be helpful in determining the root cause of failures.
