Doctorate of Philosophy (Ph.D.)

The objective of the Ph.D. programme is not only to keep pace with the expanding frontiers of knowledge but also to provide research training relevant to the present social and economic objectives of the country.

The school focus primarily on applied research related to Information Technology and related areas. Details about various research areas and groups can be found in Research section.

Program Requirement

The academic programme leading to the Ph.D. degree is broad-based and involves a minimum course credit requirement and research thesis.

Computing Facilities

Immediately upon joining, each student is assigned a high-end PC with high-speed Internet access. The PCs are supported by state-of-the-art servers that run on diverse platforms. Open-source software is used extensively and also developed in-house.

Financial Support

Several sources of funding are available for meritorious students. The school has large endowments such as the Major Bhagat Singh Rekhi Endowment and the Ramrao Nilekhani Endowment, which provide many fellowships. There are also numerous teaching and research assistantship. In additions, funding supports from project sponsored by governments and industry is also available. At the current time 100% of the students receive some form of financial support.
