Requirements

Obtaining admission to KReSIT's Ph.D. program is just the first step.

In order to subsequently register for the Ph.D., candidates have to fulfill the following requirements.
  1. For students with a MTech degree:
    • A minimum of three courses to be taken in the first one year with a minimum grade of BC in each, with an overall CPI of 8.0 (A total of six courses over the duration of the PhD)
    • A depth seminar in the thesis area before the end of the first year.
  2. For students with a BTech/BE/MSc/MCA degree:
    • A minimum of eight courses to be taken in the first two years with a minimum grade of BC in each, with an overall CPI of 8.0 (A total of ten courses over the duration of the PhD)
    • A depth seminar in the thesis area before the end of two years.

- The courses to be taken will be decided by the student in consultation with his/her advisor/facad.
- The goal of the depth seminar is to evaluate a candidate in the chosen research area and his/her ability to do critical (and original) thinking. At least six months before the seminar, the candidate is required to choose in consultation with his/her research committee a collection of papers. The candidate will not only present a summarization of the papers but also his/her own opinions on alternative approaches that could have been taken and why. This will be followed by a question answer session on the paper and on any other topic that the committee deems fit.
