All the doubts regarding installation were cleared and this helped in smooth sail through the actual assignments

It should be helpful if you have given a live online demonstration to show us complete step by step installation.

It is good as it helps people to establish the working of the software in the system.

Everyone's doubts were not cleared. It was somewhat presumed that the YouTube videos will help us rightly, but it didn't do so. My system's requirement was matching, moreover, I also followed each and every step that was shown in the video. Yet, there were errors.

Didi not attend

It was so helpful.

Very difficult to install with windows 10.

The hands on support provided by the volunteers which actually helped to solve many errors occurring during the simulation

Introduction to OpenFOAM and its importance in current fields.

instructors were very helpful and tolerant. The theory lectures were very well taken and were very informative

Explanations were crisp and clear. Great faculty too.

Answering each question , understanding of concepts

Spoken tutorials

Variety of problems in heat transfer was good. Also the immediate assistance available for the problems, also the online nature of the workshop.

Detailed and well defined material. Excellent teaching faculty. Wonderful presentations.

Spoken Tutorials and Faculty members

Faculty Lectures and doubt clarification

It started right from the basics.

The spoken tutorials were really good. Though, I didn't do anything practically but I watched the tutorials just. I think the tutorials will also be helpful for me in future.

Lecturing by Janani M

Prof. Janani's lectures were very good. Best use of illustrations to make students understand better. All others were also good in addressing most of the concerns and doubts.

initial explaination on cfd and fluid flow was good explained

The lectures on the basics of CFD and turbulence modelling were well presented.

Lecture by Prof. Janani Mam

The way of teaching and helpfulness by FOSSEE team.

quality of instruction material

Guidance, patience to explain everything.

Coverage of the topics in a brief manner for the beginners to grasp quickly.

It was conducted in a well organised manner and was very helpful. Janani ma'am was very patient and helpful in explaining the concepts and clearing the doubts. She has given a wonderful explanation on the fundamentals of CFD.

Lectures by the faculty. Clear instructions from the tutors Divyesh and Ashley.

Support provided by team online for test

Faculty sessions

From my Point of view Each session was very informative and valuable.

assignment problems

The workshop was really helpful and increased my proficiency in using OPEN FOAM software to solve CFD problems.

Spoken tutorial

Explanation of basic concepts of CFD and correlation with OpenFOAM

Good session

Lectures and presentations from the faculties and students.

Prof Janani madam lecture was easily understandable and the way of clearing doubts with practical applications (ONGC applications of pipe flow) was really good and it gives a clear clarity.

17. What aspect(s) about the workshop did you dislike the most?

None

NA

Navigating with spoken tutorial and the terminal in the VirtualBox was a bit difficult

N.A

nothing

Nil

None in particular.

Did not dislike anything. But, since I am an undergraduate student who hasn't completed subjects like Heat Transfer completely in academic curriculum, understanding and grasping everything was a bit difficult for me.

no

Not teaching the actual programming in openfoam like how to create our own header file, mesh file etc

Focus on internal tools. There are other community forums with great feedbcak. That material should be included too.

The youtube videos which you suggested were not that useful (for windows 10).

Need to listen tutorial and doubts clearing by faculty at the same time

Thermal problem on the second day was too advanced for such an introductory workshop. It was not suitable for a beginner. Too much theory and case study had too much advanced physics model.

problems in accessing the tutorials

I wouldn't say that I dislike any of the session. They were all well presented and easy to understand. However, an expert talk from an Industry personnel would have been great.

No

Nothing as such for now

nil

Nothing much.

Nothing much to dislike.

Need not cover the basic class on heat transfer. In that time we could have solved more problems.

Overall good

I wish the schedule of the workshop was more spread out instead of packed in a weekend.

Not Teaching core concepts

Thermal concepts explanation needs improvement.

nothing

It was conducted only for 2 days. It would have been great if we could get to learn some more concepts from the workshop as the lectures from the faculty and students were just incredible. Excuse the greediness, but I wished there were more. Eagerly waiting for the advanced course.

Break time can be included in Agenda.

Two days was less as it is new software to us. We need more time. Can you please make available of the recordings of two days workshop please. I will refer and practice again.

Nothing

18. Suggestions for improvement or any other suggestions

Cover the various errors occurring during installation and during the simulation to solve most of the student's problems

NA

none

Please if you could conduct workshops for undergraduate students separately it would be really great. Due to everyone together i.e. students, research scholars and faculty together, it was a bit difficult to cope up with them, understand their questions and grasp their speed.

Add open source material like from cfd online and openfoam forum.

1. Please share the recordings. 2. If possible, please share an installation video from your side for windows 10, instead of YouTube, because the videos on youtube are old, even a month or so is needed to launch another version of any software, that makes it difficult to download and install. Please look for an windows CFD software so that we dont need to download ubuntu and then the whole process. Thankyou for this workshop! Though I coudn't actually operate the software, I learnt a lot from theory taught during the workshop!!! The overall experience was good.

Could have included meshing using blender or salome, snappyhexmesh. Not much explanations about controlDict, fvschemes and fv solution. Many ascpects like pressure velocity coupling, relaxation factors etc also could have been covered.

Explain the code behind the solvers. It would be helpful.

It will be better if some more root-level concepts are discussed for those who get introduced to OpenFOAM for the first time.

I would like to attend an advanced course with applications on wave modelling and structure modelling

I would like to attend such type workshop in future to improve my skills and make myself as a valuable asset for any organization as well as growing of nation.

The workshop is excellent as it is. The initiative itself is a great step. Although, change is the only thing constant in life. So keep improving, and keep up the good work. Cheers -Mohammad Anzar Hussain

In Terms time given to solve the example problems

Non

Good session

If there could have been more activities, it would have been great. And, I just loved the way they taught us the concepts and clarified our doubts during the lecture. So, hoping for more events like these in the future.

1. In future, OPENFOAM workshops can be conducted for specific applications like IC engnes, gas turbines, etc. so that it can be very useful for reseach scholars and the research faculty who wants to start their reseach work in openfoam. 2. Lecture part can be given only to IIT Professors. 2. In FOSSEE site, completed case study projects is very limited. Hence, it can be improved.

Two days was less as it is new software to us. We need more time. Can you please make available of the recordings of two days workshop please. I will refer and practice again. Can you please send the recordings of two days

Installation and software related issues should be cleared a week before the starting of workshop. So the attendees can resolve any related issue before the workshops.
