Application of Geometric invariants in finding structural properties in biological molecules

The problem of identifying common three-dimensional substructures between protein molecules is considered in this seminar. This report studies various methods used in the detection of structurally similar patterns in biological molecules. The report serves a basic preliminary survey for a research in this field. The aim is to propose a compact representation of the protein in terms of geometric invariants. The proteins will be described in terms of redundant geometric invariants and subjected to clustering algorithms to obtain clusters of proteins with similar occuring patterns. The aim is to avoid an ALL aginst ALL comparisons which is slow and inefficient.
