P-AODV: Extension of AODV for Partially Connected Ad Hoc Networks

Ad-hoc On Demand Distance Vector (AODV) is a routing scheme for delivering a message in a Mobile Ad hoc Networks (MANET). Some set of nodes are used to route the data on behalf of other nodes. The scheme relies on the assumption that nodes are scattered over the entire region and there exists end-to-end connectivity in the network. This routing scheme may not work when network is partially connected. We propose an extension to AODV, p-AODV (proxy-AODV), to communicate in partially connected networks. p-AODV uses a store-and-forward mechanism to deliver the message when the source and the destination are not connected. In the later parts of the project, we intend to develop a kernel module for extending the current implmentation of AODV.
