Improving RFID System to read the tags efficiently

MTP focus on the methods to Improve tag reading in RFID Systems. One module is completed, where a new protocol (Intelligent Query Tree Protocol) is devised to identify tags efficiently. Initially the protocol is targeted towards the readers in godowns, exclusive showrooms, shipment point of big malls etc, still there is possibility to generalize it for wide range of applications.Collisions in RFID Systems can be due to two or more readers lying in each others' forward channel, one tag influenced by two or more readers and multiple tags within the forward channel of a reader. There can be different approaches to deal with different kind of collisions. The solutions varies from making use of specific assignment of tag id in some specific domain, inter communication of various readers, devise new Mac layer protocol to minimize collisions. Currently a protocol is devised that make use of specific tag Id assignments, mathematical measures are formulated to analyze the performance of protocol and simulator is written to verify the improvement in performance.Future work includes exploring and finding other means to reduce other types of collisions so as to improve the tag read speed. Main aim is to read more and more tags in less time so that multiple read cycles can be performed to improve reliability. There is a strong need of such research work to make RFID system practically significant in the situations where a large number of items has to be read in a small time.
