Power Aware duty scheduling in Wireless Sensor Networks

Nishant Jaiswal

Abstract

Limited, non replaceable power supply to sensor nodes still remain the bottleneck for wireless sensor network applications. For many sensor network applications such as military surveillance, it is necessary to provide full sensing coverage to a security-sensitive area while at the same time minimizing energy consumption and extending system lifetime by leveraging the redundant deployment of sensor nodes. In this project we have proposed a new power aware sleep/duty scheduling scheme which maintains a full coverage of the region all the time. This new scheme tries to increase the lifetime of the network by load balancingamongst the neighboring nodes while maintaining a full coverage of the region under consideration.
