Introduction

IIT Bombay invites nominations for the first batch of faculty leadership development programme, ‘Nurturing Future Leadership Program’, under the aegis of the Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP), Ministry of Education, Govt. of India.

This programme is a prestigious selection-based leadership development programme that is open for all levels of faculty of centrally funded higher educational institutions.

The proposed leadership development programme will help the participants prepare for educational leadership roles. It will also help them excel in their own research and teaching pursuits, and in enabling them to inculcate leadership skills amongst their students, bringing tangible and wide-ranging benefits to the nation.

The need for trained and experienced institutional leaders is also outlined in the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020.

The objectives of the programme are:

  • To build an ecosystem to inculcate leadership skills in faculty members at levels early in their career to advance both individual and organizational goals.

  • To be a broad-based leadership development programme (for all faculty across all levels).

  • To expand the pool of potential leaders for the range of leadership positions.

  • To prepare faculty to contribute effectively and proactively in collective decision-making, shared governance, developing initiatives, problem-solving.

  • Enabling institute administration to assess leadership quality of their faculty through this programme.

The programme is envisioned to make “ Everyone a Leader ” in the important area of large-scale education through technologies and collaborative efforts.

Methodology 

Live interactive sessions will be organized to foster leadership qualities and skills during the five-day residential programme proposed here.

The programme will be carried out using various pedagogical approaches such as AV presentations, workshops, and peer-learning.

Benefits

On successful completion of the programme, participants will be able to,

    • enhance their leadership qualities such as team management, communication skills, critical thinking and more.

    • organize similar development programmes for their faculty using the learnings from the programme.

    • Acquire leadership skills and become a part of a pool of trained institutional leaders.

    • Develop expertise to bring improvement in administration of higher education institutions.

Who Should Attend

  • Faculty from centrally-funded institutes, Institutes of National Importance, as well as UGC and AICTE recognized universities, colleges, and standalone institutes. 
  • Permanent faculty at recognised institutes with at least 3 years of teaching experience.

Duration and Venue

This is a residential programme of five days. Dates: 18 March 2024 to 22 March 2024 Venue: IIT Bombay Campus, Mumbai.

Criteria for Certification

Upon successful completion of the assigned tasks, graded pedagogical activities and the tests that are given as part of the programme to a satisfactory level, each participant shall be awarded a certificate.

Course Fee

There is no course fee for this programme, which is conducted under the aegis of Malaviya Mission Teacher Training Programme (MMTTP). It is funded by the Ministry of Education, Govt. of India. The cost of travel, however, has to be borne by the participant (participating institution).

In case more than 2 participants are nominated by an institution for a given Programme in one institute, the full cost shall be borne by the participant’s institutions for the additional participants.

Accommodation

Accommodation will be provided free of cost at IIT Bombay. We shall also provide free boarding during these days.

Note

Technical Requirements :

Every participant should bring,

  • a laptop, to benefit the most from the course and
  • headphone

Some of the activities such as preparing presentations, assignments, online test, etc. require a laptop.
