Programme Overview
IIT Bombay has designed a six-week course on ‘Soft Skills and Workplace Communication’ under the 'IITBombayX-LAKSHYA programme'. This course is primarily targeted at pre-final and final year students, to help them prepare for the corporate world, and perform better in the recruitment process. Corporates that recruit the final year students have certain expectations from their prospective employees. If the students/candidates are aware of these expectations, and acquire the skills required to fulfil these expectations, their journey to Professional World would become easier.
Course content
Following topics will be covered in this course:
o Introduction to Soft Skills, Verbal Communication, Participation in Meetings
o Non-Verbal Communication, Body Language
o Listening, Reading, and Writing Skills, Presentation Skills, e-Communication
o Group Discussions, Interviews, and Resume Writing
o Corporate Culture, Professional Conduct, Workplace Ethics
o Global and Cultural Awareness, Gender and Diversity
Medium of instruction for this course is English.

Duration and Venue
The duration of this course is 6 weeks from 22 January till 4 March 2018. Online part of the course will be conducted on the IITBombayX platform. Six face-to-face sessions will be conducted from IIT Bombay, on 27-January, 3-Feb, 10-Feb, 17-Feb, 24-Feb, and 3-Mar 2018. You can watch these sessions live on a YouTube channel from any place. The last graded quiz will be released on 3 March and will have to be completed on or before 10 March.
Who Should Attend
College students from any institute or discipline will benefit from this course. However, there is no restriction for any individual learner to take this course.
Course Fee and Certification
The fee for the course is Rs. 850 per participant, to be paid online during course registration. Please note that the fee is non-refundable.
Every participant who qualifies by scoring minimum stipulated marks in online quizzes, assignments, and exams, will be given a Certificate of successful completion. This will be automatically issued by the IITBombayX platform within two weeks after the course ends.
How to Apply
Enrolment will be strictly online, and no other mode of application will be entertained. The Online registration for this course starts from 10 January 2018.
The last date of registration is 04 February 2018.
Registration process for this Course:
o Sign up using your valid email id. Remember your email id and password.
o After verification of your sign up, your account will be created on the Lakshya site.
o Login on the website with the verified account.
o Go to Announcements, select the course, and register.
o After successful registration, you will receive an automated email.
o Sign up with the same registered email id on IITBombayX site. If you have already done so for any earlier course, you may skip this step. However, please ensure that you use the same email id for signup on this site.
o When the course starts, you will be automatically enrolled for the corresponding course on IITBombayX. Login to IITBombayX and start your course.
Note
All course content, including the recording of face-to-face sessions, will be later released in Open Source, including select assignments and submissions. By registering for a course, the participant agrees for such a release.
